Walking the Career Ropes: 2 + 8 Formula for Career Success

In my desire to document my career experiences (tacit knowledge) from a management perspective for employees and managers to share (explicit knowledge), the idea of a book on Walking the Career Ropes: 2 + 8 Formula for Career Success was conceived. The idea here is that the young ones, the neophytes, cannot climb the career rope over night, it takes a journey, with obstacles and soft landings all the way to fulfilment and success.

There is a learning curve which every aspiring manager must go through in their career journey. Achieving career success is the goal for everyone who joins employment. There is no prescriptive formula but there are personal and fundamental principles which I share in this book to guide the younger ones joining employment. The principles described in this book worked for me and so become my formula for career success.

Research Methodology for Business Managers

Why would one write a textbook on research methods? It seems to me that in Nigeria there is no culture of research. Could this be due to lack of understanding of the importance of research as well as decisions? Or much can be achieved in business without any investment on research and development? Or the intuitive judgement or gut feelings of decision and policy makers is sufficient for business decisions. Are people under intense pressure to get business decisions out fast without exercising the patience of ensuring that such decisions and policies are taken on the basis of facts and information resulting from research? Gradually, no meaningful business decisions, under a dynamic operating environment, can be taken without reference to specific research initiative by business organizations.

This book is very valuable to all owners of business, business managers, research supervisors, students at all educational level particularly those undergoing degree programmes at all levels.

Understanding Career Development (A Primer for Human Resource Practitioners)

Almost everywhere, years of restructuring, re-engineering, right-sizing, accompanying Mergers and Acquisitions etc have caused people to take a more active role in managing their career/work life. Managers, supervisors and support staff alike face career decisions on daily basis: should I stay or leave? Should I change career? Pursue new course or educational programme?

Most times, they are usually not guided by wise decisions based on self-assessment of their values, interests, skills and attitudes which are factors essential for career planning and satisfaction in work life. This book on career development will arm you with the essential information and guides as you make critical decisions in your career. I strongly advice you don’t make that career decision until you have read this book.

Data Organization and Business Statistics

In business, how much of quality decisions can managers take without valid and reliable data which must be carefully collected, organized and analysed to address specific issues and phenomena they face daily in the course of their business.

This book recognises that there are different types of data and appropriate statistical tools exist for analysing data which could be obtained from documentary evidence and research .

Apart from primary data obtained from first hand experience with the source of the data, secondary and tertiary types of data can be obtained from published documents.

The book offers a great deal of knowledge for young business managers and leaders who have very strong desire to influence major decisions in business. Leading in this space without adequate data and information derivable therefore will remain ineffectual and purposeless. Competitive advantage is lost without adequate market information about pricing, customers, products and services, information technology, and human resources required to drive the different business processes.
